About Lauren

Lauren Maguire has over 10 years of experience assisting adults, teens and parents with social, emotional and/or behavioral concerns. She is also a board Approved Clinical Supervisor, certified under the Center of Credentialing and Education (CCE) under the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). She earned her Bachelor's degree with a major in Psychology and minor in Fine Arts in 2000 from The College of New Jersey in Ewing, NJ. After completing college, Lauren returned home to Cape May County and worked in several trades, including teaching and in-home school instruction. She gravitated to the business realm and worked as a licensed Realtor in Avalon for 10 years, however her passion for counseling and the helping profession returned and she decided to go back for graduate studies. She earned her Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2010 from Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ.

Lauren's counseling career began in 2009 as an intern at Nancy Crafts Counseling Services. Soon after, Lauren began to work full-time in community mental health at Cape Counseling Services as an Outpatient Counselor for 8 years. During that time, she served in a variety of roles, including Anger Management class facilitator, performed Mental Health & Risk Assessment evaluations, and developed and facilitated a Codependency Recovery Group. Lauren's experience includes working with teens, young adults, middle-age and retired populations from a variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

Lauren has met all New Jersey state requirements to perform as a Licenced Professional Counselor (LPC) and and Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS). She is also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and specializes in treatment of long-standing issues pertaining to Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, as well as other adverse experiences that may have occurred in childhood or adulthood. Lauren holds a strong passion for unlocking dysfunctional trends in family systems and recovery from Codependency issues.

Lauren Maguire is also a Certified Professional Hypnotist (CPH), certified by both the National Guild of Hypnotists and the International Certification Board of Clinical Hypnotherapy (ICBCH). She attended an intensive training program under the supervision of Bill Pettek, BCH, CI, as well as an 8-month program with the Milton H. Erickson Foundation, with training facilitated by Brent B. Geary, PhD, Jeffrey K. Zieg, PhD, and Lilian Borges, LPC. Lauren is professionally insured for all services.
